The Awareness to Action (ATA) Enneagram Certification Program is a structured path of development that runs from personal and professional growth through professional certification and continuing education. It is built on the Awareness to Action model, a discipline that brings together the ATA Enneagram, clear thinking and awareness skills, deep inner work, practical skill building, and a powerful process for creating change. The approach to the Enneagram at the center of this work is simple yet robust, pragmatic but profound. It focuses on a deep understanding of the nine Ennea-type strategies and a revolutionary approach to the three instinctual biases (Preserving, Navigating, and Transmitting rather than “self-preservation,” “social,” and “sexual”). ATA pairs that framework with a disciplined approach to thinking and a clear method for turning awareness into action, so it is a model you can use on yourself first and, if you choose, with others.
The program comprises three levels: a Foundational Level open to everyone, an advanced Professional Level for those pursuing certification as an ATA professional user, and a Masterclass Series for deeper skill building and continuing education. Each level builds on the one before it, and each course you complete confers its own certificate and a badge marking your level of learning.

Who It Is For, and What to Expect
The program serves two overlapping groups. Anyone interested in the ATA Enneagram for their own growth can complete the Foundational Level purely for personal development, with no prior experience required and no expectation of going further. Those who want to work professionally as coaches, consultants, trainers, and leaders start from the same Foundational Level. While participants will also gain skills for working with others at this level, the program is grounded on the principle that no one teaches this work to others before doing it on themselves. Professional users can then build additional specific competencies through the Advanced Professional Level and Masterclass Series.
Coursework blends video with live instruction and draws on a library of ATA books (including “The Enneagram Guidebook,” “How to Think Well & Why,” “The Notes and the Melody,” “Instinctual Leadership,” and the “Collected Articles”), along with videos, an online learning platform, the ATA Online Assessment, ATA WorksTM, and a growing set of digital resources.

Foundational Level
Individual Development and ATA Theory
This is the starting point, open to anyone regardless of previous Enneagram experience. Three core courses, each combining pre-recorded video with seven two-hour live sessions held biweekly. The first three courses stand alone for personal and professional development and together form the required foundation for the advanced professional certification level.
Course 1 — The ATA Foundation
Introduces the model and its first principles: the three instinctual biases, the nine Ennea-type strategies and their core motivations, and the 27 subtypes. It also introduces clear thinking (cognitive biases and logical fallacies), the Awareness to Action Process, and “ATA WorksTM,” our new AI-enabled coaching tool.
Course 2 — Nine Aspects of All of Us
A deeper look at the ATA model and at what growth requires: the nine Core Qualities and Accelerators, developing personal and professional maturity, and the Behavioral Change meta skills framework (deeper exploration into Awareness, Authenticity, Action).
Course 3 — ATA Pathways to Change
The most applied of the three, focused on how to grow. It uses the Skillful Relationships and Skillful Thinking meta skills frameworks and walks step by step through the Awareness to Action Process, turning the earlier ideas into a true practice.
Advanced Professional Level
For those who want to teach and coach with the model and pursue certification as an Awareness to Action Enneagram Coach/Trainer. Two courses build on the Foundational Level, each with a supervised apprenticeship (coaching fees apply).
Course 1
Type Assessment and Skill Development
Develops the skill of assessing Ennea-type and subtype accurately and ethically, through typing interviews and computerized tools, practiced in a supervised assessment apprenticeship.
Course 2
Advanced Professional Development with ATA
Covers the ATA professional competencies and tools for working with individuals and groups, with a professional competencies apprenticeship for applying them under guidance.
Awareness to Action Masterclass Series
Focused courses for continuing education and professional skill building, taught by various ATA faculty. They are open at any time once the Foundational Level is complete, and two are required for professional certification. Current masterclasses include:
- Clear Thinking Mastery — logic, bias, fallacy detection, awareness training, and fundamental epistemology, going well beyond the core-course basics.
- Instinctual Selling — how the instinctual biases relate to sales, marketing, and brand messaging.
- Awareness to Action Workshop Development — designing and delivering ATA workshops for groups and organizations.
- Instinctual Bias Masterclass — the three instinctual biases and their patterns of expression, providing a deeper exploration into the impact of the instinctual biases on personal and professional relationships.
- Going Deeper with the Awareness to Action Process – a true deep dive into the stages of Awareness, Authenticity, and Action as a way of helping clients develop deep self-awareness, become skilled at challenging and rewriting limiting narratives, and successfully executing action plans.
The Certification Pathway
There are various levels of certification depending on your professional aspirations. For those pursuing professional credentials, the path to becoming a fully certified Awareness to Action Coach/Trainer is: complete the three Foundational Level courses; complete the two Professional Level courses, including both apprenticeships; and complete at least two courses from the Masterclass Series. Every course and workshop comes with a certificate and a badge, so progress is recognized at each step, whether or not you continue all the way to full certification.
